MISSENDEN WINE CIRCLE
About The Wine Circle

The Missenden Wine Circle was founded in 1989 and two of its original founders Alan Stow and Roger Lyle are respectively the Hon. Chairman and the Hon. Treasurer. Since then Membership has grown to around 40 - and we are still looking for new members.

Wine is an interesting and extensive subject and at the Missenden Wine Circle we endeavour to combine sociability with learning, so that whether one is an "expert" or a "novice" we endeavour to ensure that our meetings are entertaining, instructive and rewarding.

Our primary aim is to "taste the wines of the world" with an educational approach to viticulture, vinification, matching wine with food - and similar related subjects.

Meetings normally take the form of a presentation followed by, or accompanied by a wine tasting. Our presenters range from Circle members to Masters of Wine and each meeting normally allows for six to eight wines to be tasted within the defined context of the presentation, as indicated by the programme.

There is usually an outing in the summer, perhaps to a vineyard or a wine cellar and we have an annual dinner, always with excellent food and wine.
